Hi. What is going on? Three weeks ago, I was able to download a movie overnight, usually in about 10 hours. Then, all of a sudden, I am getting estimated download times of 126 hours, 144 hours, 166 hours. How many days is 166 hours? Now, don't try to tell me that the site has increased in popularity, because download times do not multiply 10 to 15 times overnight! Your not that popular. Please will somebody find out what is really going on. Thank you, Dr. V.

It is digital Jihad. You are an infidel and Allah has cursed you with dial up download speeds.

Allahu akbar

Digital jihad? God and His Mamma, let's not start that one again! :)

I've wondered about the DL times myself, but I figured it was just that the Archive is being discovered by more users.

OK, so we can safely assume that the problem is neither digital jihadists bringing about the end of the Western world by restricting our access to Tex Ritter films or that 75% of the North American population has suddenly become interested in Tex Ritter films and is aggressively downloading them. Nonetheless, this still does not answer my question- What is going on?

Well, just to make you all envious, here in Tokyo, i usually download at around 200-250KB/sec, a 300MB movie takes me from 25 to 30mn. And i was complaining it's too slow!
i'm not making fun of you guys though, i just wonder where is it going wrong, the technology is obviously here, and aslo cheap for us (well, at least one thing is cheap in Japan),$50 or so, unlimited downloads and uploads. (And i would not be surprised somebody has even better numbers.) Hope you all catch up, and even pass us!

I believe the Archive has a European mirror which those outside of North America are directed to. I think the European mirror is much less bandwidth congested than the San Francisco data center.

Cush, that was bad, and I wish I had thought of it first. :)

How do you get to the European mirror? It might not be a bad idea to spread out the usage a bit.
